YEAR 2
Welcome back to Term 2! I hope that all families had an opportunity to spend some quality time together over the term break. We have had a successful start to Term 2 with most of the students settling calmly and quickly into their learning.
In Literacy, we are learning how to write a Procedure Text. The students are well versed with the text structure and the language features of a procedure by now. We are also learning the skill of ‘Comparing and Contrasting’ in reading. The students learnt how to use a Venn Diagram to compare two things. In Grammar, we are learning about doing verbs, saying verbs, commands and punctuation.
In Numeracy, Year 2 are working hard to learn various subtraction skills and fractions (Number & Algebra). In the weeks to come, we will be learning how to measure the length of an object using cm and m, telling the time on the analogue clock using half past, quarter to, quarter past and the transformations (Measurement & Geometry).
In Integrated Studies this term, we will be learning about the geography of Australia, its position on the world map, the neighboring countries, states and their capital cities, important Australian landmarks and various natural and constructed land features.
In Health, the students have been learning about resilience, what makes a resilient person, positive self-talk, bullying and how can we play a positive role in ending bullying.
In Art, students went wild with their imagination and created beautiful art work using overlapping shapes.
